I have heard recently that the program for kids on the autistic spectrum in Sharon are changing and that some services are being eliminated. Is this true? I thought that they had a collaborative with the New England Center for Children. We were looking at apartments to rent for the next school year, so this is disappointing if we need to refocus our search.

My 10.5 year old daughter has Asperger's and co existing anxiety and some school defiance, so she needs a good program. But I am curious if the situation is dire for kids on the spectrum or just different from what residents are used to. Keep in mind I am coming from a district that has no Autism specilaists on staff at all, in any schools. No one with ABA training, no BCBA's. The OT is part time and works for all of the schools, so OT is only on her IEP as an in class consult, which amounts to nothing. Occasionally a sped teacher comes into class to help with end of day organization, but it is inconsistant. Given these points, it could still be an improvement. Does anyone have an experience as of late?
