A colleague has a small house in Longmeadow that he would like to offer for rent, but he does not know where to start looking for good tenants, how much rent to ask, etc. Craigslist seems so 'iffy,' in a manner of speaking. Anyone who has any thoughts is welcome to chime in.

Rental houses are rare in Longmeadow; from past cases I remember, he should be able to get a minimum of $1500 for a small, older 2 bedroom type in the southern end of town close to Enfield, CT (where I come from!), quite a bit higher in the central areas and in the northern end of town.

I've been using Trulia to look for rentals in the Springfield region and that seems to be the most usable source since there is typically enough information and some good pictures of the property. Not sure if you need an agent to post a listing there or not. At least it would be a place to start for him to get an idea of prices in the area.

Feel free to send me a direct message. We are looking at making an initial move to MA next spring/summer and Longmeadow is on my short list; especially since i have a daughter who will be starting kindergarten next Fall. We are responsible professionals and I'd treat a rental as if it were my own home.

Cheers,
Rich
