What do you think of that?
I've read research papers on how pesticides used at bogs could lead to potential health issues e.g. cancer......contaminated well water etc.
Would there be pest issues? Like when they flood the bogs....I usually see rats swimming to "shore"

I lived near a cranberry bog for 2 years as a child, and I am still alive, with no cancer. The animals you saw swimming may have been muskrats or mink rather than a land-dwelling rat. My dad trapped a mink in his bog. I would not worry too much about living near a bog.
