We are currently living in Attleboro and I just got a job in Cambridge (I start Monday, Woo!). My husband works in Brockton. Both are decent jobs and once we get the kids into full time school and aren't paying a fortune in childcare, will be worth the hassle.

We are renting in Attleboro and have another year on our lease. The original plan was to move here for a bit, save some money and buy a home in the next 2-3 years. I was unemployed at the time, so Cambridge did not figure into the equation at all!!

Anyway, now I'm wondering what areas would be good to purchase in that would give us both a slightly better commute. I will have to leave an hour and a half early every day to get to work and he has to deal with the kids and daycare since I leave so early.

Looking for an area with decent schools and where we could get a single family home for $300k or less. I know in Mass that is pretty impossible, right?

We plan on being in Mass for the long haul, but I do wonder if won't end up being renters forever.

No really great options. Braintree would fit most of your criteria, but there will be slim pickings under $300k. According to Redfin, there are 25 listings, so maybe. The schools are good and it;s on the red line for your husband. Not a bad commute to Brockton.
