I'm considering a move to Metrowest. If you live in or nearby any of these towns and have insight into how long the commute is 1) during peak rush hour (leaving at 7:45), and 2) a little before peak (leaving at 6:45-7), I'd really appreciate it. As an additional, if you live in Natick and take the commuter rail to Yawkey to make it down to Longwood, I'd like to know how long that typically takes door to door.

I'd say that 50% of the time it is late. Something to consider. Longwood is just one of those areas that is not that easy to commute to via public transportation.
As far as driving, it is key to leave before peak. You'd be fine.
Thanks NY'er. Do you know how long it usually takes to get from Mass Pike exit 12, or exit 13, to Longwood if you leave home between 6:45 and 7? I'm assuming my wife will use Exit 22 (Pru) and head down Huntington to get to Longwood.
I'm not sure on exact transit times, sorry. Exit 18 would probably be better and then she could come in the back way.
One other option would be to consider Natick. RT 9 could be feasible most days if she gets and early start. Another option would be to drive to Riverside and then take the T to Longwood.
That would alleviate the need for parking which can be pricey!
I used to leave my GF's house in Natick to go to South Boston and went down 9 the whole ride no probs... Don't try it after 6:45 though thats as late as you want to try. I left at 6:30 but it's a small window
Can't speak to rush hour traffic, but for some reason it seems to take me 40 minutes from Natick to LMA along Rt. 9 during off-peak times. I'm in a similar situation, and was eyeing up routes using the Commuter Rail.
