Hi -- I was thinking of moving to Clarksville, and a co-worker said it was full of stepford moms. Anyone think that is fair? What's it like living there? I have a first grader and was thinking of moving there for the good schools and hopefully a sense of community. Thanks for your input!

Well I haven't been living in Clarksville, but close enough to know that if she means the population is largel A) White, B) Very well off income wise, and C) Very "preppy", I can't really argue.

I'm from Columbia and Clarksville is a very nice community with great schools. If you like the area, I say go for it. As for "stepford" what's wrong with that? People used to make comments about people from Columbia and I think people are entitled to their opinions.

There's a large Asian population as well. You will be fine in Clarksville and probably anywhere in Hoco. There are lots of good schools in the area, so if from some reason you don't find what you are looking for in Clarksville then try other places in Howard County.

You do know that's seen as pejorative, right. Conformity, heterogenous, upscale, isolated, out of touch and preppy at least CAN be positive - "stepford" is not a compliment, and can't be spun into one, no matter how you try.

Don't you find that we people say that they are interested in moving to Clarksville, that most of them mean River Hill? To me River Hill, is just like the rest of Columbia, it is built off of the same model. The difference is that it is newer, feeds into the best schools and less apts but in general the same concept. Condos, townhomes closer to village center, spiraling outward.

Perhaps, they do not mean River Hill, in which case, I would concur with the lp comments.
