Folks - with all the discussions on BGE rates - I was just curious to see if I can verify my usage. However in looking at my meter - I felt a bit ignorant as I had no idea what I'm looking at. Its a digital meter that cycles through 10-12 different readouts (one is the date I believe). Anyone know how to make sense of these different displays? Or at least which one shows the power consumption? I believe each has a code - and then the reading.

Thanks in advance.

Yea, seen that page. I don't have an analog meter. And their instructions for the digital meters simply say "just read what the display says".

See the pic on that page where the digital readout says "07 01450"... Mine cycles through a number of different readouts i.e 01 xxxxxx, 02 xxxxxxx, 04 xxxxxx, etc.

I've only seen a couple of these kind of meters and only at houses that have converted to apartments...

Sure you're not paying the neighborhood's bill?

Default Reading a digital meter

We have a digital meter and I just looked at my BGE bill to find the numbers that made sense. I'm on time of use, so a (left of the numbers) is peak, b is intermediate and c is off peak.

I called BGE because my bill almost doubled from last month. They said that 4, 5 and 8 coorespond to peak, intermediate and off peak. Now, that being said, these numbers don't coorespond at all to my bill! None of them matched. The peak and off peak readings were higher than even the previous month's reading and the intermediate was way, way higher than the current reading. I called BGE a second time to find out if there was an error and the rep corroborated what I was told the first time and agreed to have someone come out and do a second meter reading.
