Village of Owen Brown (area on the sides of Broken Land Pkwy), is it a good place to buy? (Columbia: house)

We were thinking buying THs with ~300k budget in Columbia/EC area. I just noticed that within that range we could get SFHs in Owen Brown, especially the area on the sides of Broken Land Pkwy, shaker dr etc.

I seldom saw anyone recommending that area, and just want to get inputs from you guys. School wise I know it's not ideal, with a 8-out-of-10 Atholton ES, and 7-out of -10 Oakland Mills MS. We are expecting the first kid in three months, so it might not matter that much until 5-6 years later.

If you are quoting school rankings from Greatschools.org, you can think of an 8 out of 10 as way better than average, better than 80% of other schools in the state. If you are planning on staying in the house until your child is in elementary school, I'd go visit the elementary school. I'd like to see whether the kids are happy and paying attention, whether the class size is good, etc.
