My husband is being transfered to Maine soon and we just got back from doing some house hunting up there. We found 2 houses that we really like in Turner and Minot.
Anyone familiar with these areas? How are the schools? Rec programs etc? Any info you could provide us would be greatly appreciated!
I might be able to help a little. I lived in that area for years but not in either town. I can tell you that both towns are great and both towns are up and coming. As they are on the outskirts of Lewiston-Auburn people are flocking to both of those areas to escape the city. It is nice that both towns are only a short drive to Lewiston-Auburn. Will you or your husband be working in Lewiston-Auburn? I am told that Minot has a good school system but Turner has a great school system. I know people that have lived in surrounding towns but moved to Turner just for the schools. Both towns have a lot of new construction homes. As far as rec programs, are you talking about programs for children? Both towns have rec programs such as baseball, soccer, basket ball etc. They really are both great towns and I wouldn't hesitate to live in either one. If I can help at all, let me know.
Thanks so much for your feedback. I really appreciate it. Yes, my husband will be commuting to Auburn so this area is ideal for us. I am leaning more towards Turner. Hopefully we will be able to sell our house in NJ soon so we can make this happen.
I was asking about the Rec programs b/c I hear that during the winter you need to find something to do...especially for your kids.
Thanks again!
J Mom.
