Many homes on the coast have been there over 100 years. Hurricanes are not a worry. As mentioned above, the new calcium salt is extremely costly to Maine vehicles.

I did have a bit of trouble getting homeowners in Eastport. The company (and most others) would not write a policy within 1000ft of salt water. I thought that was a bit unusual, but I found homeowners very reasonable through another company. I am less than 1000ft from water, but on a high hill, so the flood issue was a non-issue.

Did you know that, according to the geniuses at FEMA & the Nat Flod Ins. Program, that Todds Head (50-60ft. above the ferry landing) is in the flood plain for velocity hazard? Sometimes the hills and cliffs don't matter from an airplane survey and 1800's data. In your case it doesn't matter but not in all cases.

Tinbender: The lady in Calais (insurance agen) was from Eastport, and knew the house, so I guess she knew the maps too. If it floods up there, global warming is real! The whole state of Florida would just about be under water if the tide came up 50ft.

Great video link! Perfect moody music too. Kept me on the edge of my seat for over 5 minutes as I watched the funnel cloud get closer & closer! Gave me goosebumps!
Thanks for the cool video!
