Though I can probably shoot informally on the land I just bought near Houton, I'm looking for a formal trap range in the area. The closest one I've found (online, since we haven't moved yet) is the Princeton Rod and Gun Club about 70 miles S on US1. Does anyone know of anything closer? Prefer trap, but skeet or sporting clays would be OK too. Any info on the PR&GC would also be appreciated. Thanks!

Kevin

Hi Kevin: You may want to contact some of the smaller town offices near Houlton, or perhaps even the Town of Houlton office itself. I use to live in Smyrna which is 17 miles South of Houlton I believe. Not sure about trap shooting or any Rod & Gun clubs up that way but am positive the Town Managers or Town Offices could direct you. Look online for the websites for the Town Office where you purchased your land. They all seem to have websites now. Good Luck.

Closest one I can think of off the top of my head is the Presque Isle Rod and Gun club which is closer than Princeton, but still quite a long haul at 40-45 miles. Same advice CN Pam gave; check with the small towns around Houlton, you might be surprised. Have you checked with the Houlton Town Office yet? Somebody in there should know if there is a trap range close (or the Houlton City Police).

Thanks folks. Presque Isle looks nice, and 40-45 miles is not too bad. Will do some more checking when I'm there this spring as suggested.
