Good news from Augusta...thanks to a lot of awareness and people calling and emailing their congressman, the Maine Dairy Farmer has done well despite the terrible economic news and budget this year here in Maine.

We all know it is tough sledding no matter the occupation, but it was looking especially dire for Maine Dairy Farmers. I know people on here saw many of my posts on dairy farming in Maine and PMed me and asked how they can help. Those emails and calls were heard by people in Augusta, and we got the funding we really need.

Now this was a collective effort because the dairy farmers banded together and made sure we were heard, so did others promoting us, but the constituents getting involved also helped.

As I type this, the Maine Dairy Farmers are getting the highest price in the country for a gallon of milk. Since this price will not upset current milk prices, the Maine Farmer is getting a profit from their 24/7/365 hour working week, while the consumer won't be over-paying either. It is a win-win situation for the people of Maine, and the remaining 370 dairy farms in this state.

Thanks!

That's good news, Broken Tap! Let's hope we can build a more supportive consumer community for our small farms especially dairy like yours. Wish you the best this year!!
