I'd love to do this as a group venture. I think that sounds like a lot of fun. We could probably get a group discount if enough are going. We'll have 2 adults and 3 kids if the date is established in advance so Brad can be off. That is something I wouldn't do without him. I'd never hear the end of it!

As we get closer, I promise to firm up a day. Right now it will be Sept. 13, 19, or 20th.

We used to take our boat way out in July and August to watch the whales go by. We had to pick a calm day with a slight west breeze so it would be fairly flat for the ride. We would go out early in the morning until the depth finder was passing 600 feet, usually just out of sight of land, then shut down the engine and drift for a while. When they would surface and blow you could hear them for a mile or more way out there. Then we would sneek over to where they were passing and cut the motor again. We had them passing by so close it was scary in an eighteen foot boat but thrilling just the same. We sometimes saw five or six of them in an hour then we'd head back in before the winds shifted and it got choppy. Great fun. The kids still talk about it.

Talked to Windjammers in Eastport today. Only 10 people need to go out on the Sylvania Beal and they are available on September 20th. Dm me for any additional info or post in here with a head count. Thanks!

Dramamama and I can't go to Eastport and not get on a boat at least once.
