Anyone have any advice for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. We are planning a vacation after our wedding and decided to head that direction for a couple of weeks in August. We have never been there but have heard wonderful things. Has anyone been there or have suggestions? I was thinking about New Brunswick too, I keep seeing commercials there and they make it look amazing too.

Spring will be here soon!

Yes, we went there on our honeymoon. Drove through NB, to PEI, and back through NS.

NB is very beautiful, but is not much different than rural Maine. Same with NS, very much like Washington county, Maine.
PEI is very unique, and worth it to spend more time there.

My advice if you have two weeks. Spend about 3-4 days in NB, most of a week in PEI, and then another 3-4 days in NS on the way back.
We hit as many of the old military forts and historical sight as we could, and a few places I remember the most:

- Moncton NB, Magnetic Hill & Zoo
- Lunenburg, NS
- Anne of Green Gables in PEI.

I know my wife could think of more.

Something not to miss is the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island. Go to a ceilidh which is a local country music concert. It's pronounced "kaylee". When you cross the Canso Straight to the island there is a sign that says, "Thank the Good God Almighty for the Canso Straight for it keeps the Devil from off our blessed Island." There is a local saying: Throw a rock over your shoulder and you have a 50/50 chance of hitting a fiddler. There are a LOT of fiddlers on Cape Breton Island.

I used to go to NS and Newfoundland five or more times a year on business. Take the TransCanada from New Brunswick to Nova Scotia. For the trip back take the high speed ferry called The Cat. It's a catamaran that goes 55 MPH and you can drive your car right on.

Save enough time for Maine too.

St John New Brunswick is very cool. Beautiful on the coast down there. The reversing falls (not sure that's the right name) are beautiful. The city itself reminds me a lot of Portland. They're nearly identical in size and culture.

I'd make a point to check it out.
