So if I were willing to move back to California, let kids sit on my lap and yank on my beard, I could earn a lot of money.

Cool, but then I would be living in California, again.

Hmm, no thanks. I like Maine.

no need to move ... you can be the Santa in Maine

the vast majority of my santaing is for non-profits, charities, churches is done for the season - no charge

some of the moms that sit on Santa are reward enough

Mr Bee Man ... your beard is naturally white - the kids will love it

The photo that you may be looking at has my beard mostly encased in ice. On that mild day, my breath was condensating onto my eyebrows, moustache and beard, where it was freezing in place.

The more work outside I did, the more the ice built up. Changing facial expression is difficult once all your hair freezes in place. To frown or do anything different 'pulls'.

I have had that happen to me before in much colder climates.

I was surprised that it would happen to me here in Maine. I did not think it would get cold enough to do that.

A dip in the jacuzzi and it all melted quickly.

Is it the 'Old' part that "doesn't feel right" ?

Or the 'Fat' part that "doesn't feel right" ?

Or the 'Guy' part that "doesn't feel right" ?

Or children sitting on a lap that "doesn't feel right" ?

I could see possibly being a 'santa'.

I was once very active with the Shrine, and at that point I very nearly went through their clown training. I did not go through it, as my career's duties were too great. Though I was sorely tempted at that time to be a Shrine clown.

Overall I think that I would prefer being a Shrine clown rather than a santa.

I'd like to ride the go-karts and minibikes the Shriners have in the parades around the state. Now that looks like fun!
