Great post, mainebrokerman. Wish I could rep you.

If you are stopped along the road and it's 20 below, somebody will stop to see if you are OK. Maybe you are taking pictures of the ice on trees or maybe you are tending to a sick kid, but somebody will check on you.

Most will have no idea those words were song lyrics. Can't rep ya on the words but I'll rep ya on the timing and placement bud!

I'll rep the band Eagles here too, classic!

Interesting perspectives.
I've been avidly reading over these forums as I consider the possibility of "retiring" in Maine a few years down the road. Some of the forums here on city-data have really put me off of even considering a given area.
In contrast, I've found the Maine folks who post on here to be blunt (yes), but it's a very refreshing plain-speaking sort of honesty.
I'd rather have somebody tell me something with a straight face than deliver it with a false grin. Life isn't always sunshine and roses.

Even some of the older posts I've read where certain regulars have apologized for their earlier post, I've read and re-read and wondered, what did they edit out?? Haha!

So a sincere thank you. Keep delivering it "straight up", folks. I wouldn't have it any other way.

There certainly are big differences between regions of Maine. Rural forest with lots of outdoors activities and abundant wildlife were a big draw to us migrating to Maine for our retirement. Most of the people that we interface with are independent natured, very neighborly and we love it.

It is easy to forget that there are high-strung urban areas that are also in Maine.

Yes, it is. And I do my very best to avoid them!

No problems, thus far, dealing with "Maine-ahs". They are great people!

High-strung and Maine are two things I have never said in the same sentence.

So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains
And we never even know we have the key
No credit to Paul McCartney, for 'The End', nor for songwriters of 'Already Gone' - Jack Temmpchin and Robb Strandlund. My rant was at least original.

Just saying.
Ho-ho! It took real, dedicated talent of a certain type to instill that attitude when it had never existed before.

I have no idea what is being inferred, or even what that "gap" is, but thank you for counting.
