Looks like Marden's abruptly closed their Rumford store Wed. due to concerns about the building's integrity that the landlord refused to address. A shame, even though we live in N.H. we made it a point to go there 2-3 times a year.

That makes me curious as to what the safety issue is. And why isn't the city in the conversation? If the building fails to meet code, the city should be threatening to condemn the building.

According to what was reported on tv last week it's the roof. No idea why the city hasn't addressed this.

This gives more info. It might be behind a pay wall. If so I’m sorry.

All the shops in Abbott Farm Plaza leak. We received 28" of snow on Dec. 20th and 4.5" of rain 6 days later. Flat roofs are a bad idea in Maine. These roofs have leaked for years and the landlords have ignored it.
The town has nothing to do with private properties unless there is a health violation and that is the state's discretion
Tractor Supply is in the plaza and we are hoping this situation gets squared away before they decide to leave too.
Plowing is another issue here but losing product and having to designate 2 employees moving 5 gallon buckets around inside each shift to catch the water before a customer slips and breaks their neck is not a good business model.
