Donald Trump Jr. got his moose tag, came to Maine and shot his moose last week. A teen age girl from South Carolina came to Maine and shot a huge bear. She used a 270 and the bear weighed 695 pounds, dressed. She dressed the bear out herself. Those mountain girls from SC are like Maine girls.

Was she hunting with hounds or trapping? There's nothing like hounds and a huge bear lumbering along.

Partridge are coming out to the gravel roads by mid-afternoon in the NMW. I was able to take my daily limit in a short time Saturday afternoon. Until then, I hadn't seen many birds in four or five hour hunts. We spent a long day on side roads off The Golden Road and didn't see any wildlife other than the partridge.

No idea why you're in awe in front of this. Anybody can shoot. When I go to the range I see kids around 10 shooting as far and as fast as I do with AR 15 and bigger guns. I shoot a lot of guns and frankly this is a different activity than weight training or wrestling, strength and being big don't give you any advantage. So a girl shot a bear with a rifle, I mean WOO HOO! And?

I think that this must be seen in context, this is 2022. The world seems to be coming apart at the seams. There have been many riots and it feels like our society will never again calm down and be peaceful.

I suspect that Roger is simply admiring that even with all the evil in the world today, there are still families raising up country girls. Not all is lost.

Well, to be fair, anyone can shoot at the range. But not everyone can shoot well, outdoors, at things that move.

I spent eight hours tracking a wounded deer yesterday because the hunter had no idea of the differences.

Missed your question earlier, Maine Writer. The record bear for this year was not shot ahead of hounds or over bait. It was a wandering bear. We knew he was really big and many saw his tracks.
