People are buying rural properties all over Maine. Prices are low from buyers' point of view, but the prime reason for this mini-boom is safety. According to the FBI, Maine is the safest state. If your are unfamiliar with something called "Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs", look it up. First on the list is safety. What we are witnessing is urban flight. I have never seen so many rented camper trailers going down the Trans-Maine Trail.
We are feeling this.

New York City folks are moving into my neighborhood so I want to leave before they stop buying.

Then I want to move to some place even safer.

Suddenly everyone in NY is talking about Maine.

Maine is the safest state according to the FBI and we have four real seasons. Right now we are coming into summerand this is the longest day of our year.

Hey, we have constitutional carry. Want to carry a handgun? Go right ahead. No permit is required.
