Do you think there's any possibility of Maine switching from Eastern to Atlantic Time?

It would benefit farmers and anybody else who works outdoors. We are very small minority and it is very unlikely that it will happen. The world dos not end When we go on daylight saving time. It's just an adjustment.

Years ago, some bureaucrat suggested that we slide the thermometer up ten degrees in the wintertime so we could save on heat.

I believe that Senator Eric Brakey has submitted a bill to do this. I hope it passes, for a variety of reasons.

Where would you draw the line. Certainly not all of Maine would be on Atlantic time. Maybe down about 100 miles from Lubek as far as Acadia?

I'm not understanding how it would benefit farmers or those who work outside. On the first day of winter there is 8 hours and 44 minutes between sunrise and sunset on average in Maine. This past year on Dec 21, the sun rose at 7:15 AM and set at 3:58 PM. If we were on Atlantic time it would have risen at 8:15 and set at 4:58. I guess if the farmer likes to sleep in, it might be good. Most farmers I know want to be out the door earlier, not later.

I'd like to see Maine do away with Daylight Saving Time, and then move to Atlantic Time. If both were kept, I'd be light out until 10pm in the summer.

At my house my computer and cellphone and my truck all ready register on Atlantic time. When I get to the top of the driveway, it (truck) switches back to EST. I'm all for it.

Our phones give us messages all the time going between Calais and Robbinston. Just more messages to delete.

I worked on a dairy farm many years ago. I worked sunrise to sunset and it made no difference to me what the time was. The cows knew what time it was feeding time and milking time. Be 15 minutes late and they would remind us. However, it would have been convenient if the bank hours corresponded to the day.

I worked in Canada which has seven time zones. Newfoundland is a half hour off from the rest of the country, sort of like Baghdad, but I digress.

A minor note but I dislike the sun rising at 3:30 in the morning in the summer. It makes it hard for me to get a good sleep. This change would help with that.
