It looks like we may turn the corner this weekend. What I love about Maine is you KNOW when the season changes. Every August or September that DAY comes when the snap in the air happens. Might get a little variation after that, but the acknowledgment by Mother Nature tends to be pronounced. Wood splitting picks up in earnest.

What a crappy, long, deep winter was this. My driveway is exploding with sinkholes. Saps on the hard boil out back. Got a gallon of syrup already. I believe I have just enough wood to coordinate with catching the first native brook trout out of the River this year. Pallet wood provides the sap boiler, though, not my hard-fought stovewood. Still can't get up on the back 40 to cut next year's load. Best fishing Downeast just about Mother's Day.

It has been six months. We got 10 inches of snow on Nov 10. On April 10 I will still have 2 feet of snow on my lawn.

I completely missed the train of thought here. I was looking for a "Throwback Thursday" type idea. We are south in OH celebrating a birth of Grandson. Up north the weather is still snow. A good portion of the western and central UP may get up to 6". So.......congratulations to you over in the tropics. Here in NW OH a forecast of 74F.

Yeah, woke up this morning to daffodils buried in 2" of new snow and the lawn areas that were open had disappeared.

A little more than five months here. We got 8-10" on November 2 and still have around 20" now. I'm grateful for the below freezing nights that let the water soak in. Maybe we'll get out of this without big floods.

All hail the arrival of Maine spring!

Now...if it would just stay in the 60s all summer, I'd be ecstatic. I hate it when it gets up to 92F, like last July. Even 80 with humidity, is too much for me.

Siberia, anyone?

Lessee . . . 80 with humidity or 10 FREAKIN" BELOW with a stiff breeze? Love the seasons. Love the change even more.
