Oh, certainly. I clerked at a gift store as a younger person where everyone's salary was made between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. (Wow, to remember how sacred Thanksgiving was as recently as the 80's!)

Just speaking for myself, but nothing--maybe except loud Christmas Muzak with one of these modern screamers--can make me pray for death faster than a wailing child whose parent ignores it. Now everyone will call me Scrooge.

As for Marden's, I have to say, I hadn't had much experience with them...'tried one once and found it a bit lacking, but went in another time just because I had some time to kill, and came out the door with so much I could barely carry it.

I've been going back ever since.

Same here. I went in two days ago looking for a kitchen drainer and came out with everything but the kitchen sink. I even bought food, a thing I thought I'd never do at Marden's. Olive oil was half of what it is at the supermarket.

I must say, I'm surprised by the cost of living in Northern Maine. I expected that moving to a rural, non-glamorous area (exactly like the one I moved from in Pennsylvania) would bring no surprises regarding cost of living. I was wrong.

Ha, it's one reason why I don't want to pay for television! Bievenue a Mardens et a free French t.v.
