Aislinn isn't intentionally confusing anyone. Explaining the referendum over and over...and over and over is unnecessary. The information is out there and easily accessible. Let's hope casual readers know what the referendum is asking. It's been in the media for along time. I've been answering that question and writing about it for 15 long months.

While driving around Lewiston and Auburn on Sunday (not much snow here from the storm), we noticed several signs with "Bears Vote Yes on #1." Though we did not agree with the bears on the issue and dispute the premise that bears are entitled to vote in the election, we noted the quality and quantity of their signs. Those bears must have a great source of funding.

It was disappointing to see "Yes" had more votes in this area, but there were plenty of us who voted No too.

More disappointing is that ALL of the bonds passed again, so more debt/taxes to pay for. Fun. It should be required that the ballot estimates how much taxes will go up if the bond passes. I bet a lot of people who just vote yes on everything would suddenly start to vote no a bit more if they see how much it is actually going to cost them personally.

Every proposed tax should have an expiration date and like the lableing required on food and drugs there should be details including the items you suggested. we really need to have issues spelled out with clear consequences included to make informed decisions.

Mainers do love raising taxes.

It is very unusual to see a bond fail to pass. Gotta raise taxes

To many Maine voters (and the liberal Maine newspapers), bonds are just free money.

Looks like the discussion about the bear referendum is over.
