Hi.

I'm wondering how hot it gets in the summer in Maine? I'm looking to move somewhere cool.

Thanks,
b

You can look at the city data page for various towns in the state and see the weather averages, along with a great many other pertinent stats.

Inland and North we usually get a couple of days in the 90's. A few weeks in the mid-upper 80's. Of course these are the days highs and not averages. Down along the coast they tend to be a bit warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer than we are.

It seldom stays hot at night. We have "good sleeping weather" year round.

I think I had three uncomfortable nights this summer. The days got pretty hot though. I was surprised really. It gets toasty!
The spring was fun...start in the 40's then shoot up in the 80's!

Default I'm a wimp - mostly due to the humidity/dewpoint

As the subject states...I grew up with central a/c in south western Ohio and when I moved to Maine (yikes- has it been 20 years ago now!) it was the humidity - or more to the "point" - the dew point - that did me in. Although the part of Ohio I resided in would see many days in the summer above 95+ degrees, the coastal plains of Maine with occasional 85+ degrees would "do me in" because the humidity/dew point is just as bad in the summer at times. For that reason, my a/c is turned on once we get above 60 degrees dew point (I hate damp sheets and musty carpets)!

This is a funny "reminiscing" post, because at the present moment, I'm looking at about 10+ of snow on the ground and watching the Weather Channel talking about an East Cost Snowstorm/Blizzard for the upcoming weekend!

It is really nice in Maine in the summer. It can get really hot in late July and early August though. You got to have an AC in your house. It is the winter that I can not stand. Too much snow and too cold.

In the Portland area July and August are the worst months. Even then it's not bad. Maybe 2 weeks worth of 90s and humidity. That's not in a row either. That's 2 weeks worth spread over the 2 months. Then bundle up for the 9 months of winter.

Not asking about the 4 or 5 months TOPS of winter, but summer.

Summers are very pleasant everywhere in the state.
