I HAVE BEEN WATCHING THE NEWS AND ITS DEPRESING.
SHOOTINGS FOR NO APARENT REASON, ASULTS,
ROBERYS AND THE LIST GO'S ON AND ON.
I ASKED MY FRIEND WHOS A MAINE ST POLICE OFF.
N HE SAYS ITS THE COURY SYSTEM .
HE SAID HE CAN ARRESR SOME ONE AND THEY CAN BE BACK ON THE STREETS BEFOR HE CAN GET TO HIS CAR.
HE WAS TELLING ME ABOUT 15 YRS AGO SOME GUY BROKE IN TO A MANS
HOUSE AND THE OWNER SHOT THE CRIMINAL.DIDNT KILL HIM JUST WOONDED HIM. THE CRIMINAL SUED THE HOME OWNER AND WON.
NOW HOW RIGHT IS THAT?
THEN HE SAID THE HOME OWNER WAS ARRESTED FOR ATEMP MURDER.
ITS ALL MOST LIKE YOUR HOME ISNT YOUR HOME.
I BELEVE YOU SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO PROTECT YOUR HOME AND PROPERTY.THE MAN IN TEXAS WENT A LITTLE TO FAR BUT THATS JUST MY OPINION.IF THE CRIMINALS HAD SOME REAL PUNISHMENT I THINK THE CRIME RATE WOULD DROP.IF YOUR GONA BREAK IN TO MY HOME MAKE SURE IM NOT HOME.IF I AM HOME THAN IM SORRYFOR YOU.

I don't often watch the news. There's little or nothing I can do to change any of it. Worrying about it doesn't help. I'm much happier concentrating on the 1.2something million people in Maine who didn't break laws and make the 6 o'clock news.

Caribou...hmmm...now I wonder too.

I do think that much of it is really due to the media.

I do too. It gives too many idle and warped minds too many ideas of things to do, and spreads bad news much more rapidly than good. If there were an evening Good News I'd watch that!

writer, i totally agree, if there was a network, ,,at 6 pm,,that formatted a "good-news" hour, i believe it would crush the other tragedy networks.
id open the program with "welcome to the good-news network, for those that want to watch tragedy tv, and feel like committing suicide after you watch it, we welcome you to click over to abc, nbc, and cbs, cnn, msnbc
otherwise, we will try to give you the good news of the world"
