Hello to all. I am looking for a place to stay for about a month from early September in the Houlton area, preferably within about 20 minutes' drive of Linneus. Need not be fancy. I have recently bought some land in Linneus. My son and I will be making preparation for building a cabin. I have stayed at motels in Houlton -all very nice, but that could get costly over two or three weeks. And camping on the property -while also very nice, would entail distraction from our 'to-do' list. I would welcome any suggestions from the members of this forum. Thank you. Alden

talk to shiretown motel, if they have open rooms, which im sure they do,,,they may surprise you and give you a heck of a rate

Thank you. I am going to give Shiretown a call today. I did call a couple motels in the area, but when each told me that they could offer no discount from their daily rate, I lost hope and did not call any others. Thanks.

Edit: I spoke to Shiretown. They did give a discount on their daily rate as you said. But I am going to give my search a little more time in the hope of finding a barn

the town office employees seem to have a pulse on the town- wouldnt hurt to call up one of them, and ask questions

as i understand it- you are looking for a place to stay this is cheaper than a motel- there may not be anything available, but it doesnt hurt to ask- these folks are as good as anyone to ask.
tell them your situation, and ask if they know of anything available, now sometimes they dont have he brightest bulbs working at the town office- so you could get anything for a reply..
