So, these are my curious thoughts. The kinds of things I wake up thinking about I haven't found the answers to elsewhere!

1. What exactly is a Loon? Part of the Duck family?
2. How long would it take me to drive East to West and North to South across the state?
3. Has anyone actually met Stephen King?
4. Would a young Texas widow be able to find a date?
5. Are there really mosquitos the size of hummingbirds?
6. Exactly how far is it to the closest roulette table?
7. Are there really NO direct flights to the state of Texas?
8. Have cars REALLY disappeared from the high tide?

1) aquatic bird, not part of the duck family but very pretty
2) from Eastport to Kittery it takes us just about 5 hours, I've never driven Kittery north beyond Bangor, but I'd guess 6 hours
3) yes
4) yes
5) nope, but it's funny to say
6) not sure, but the Cat car ferry out of Bar Harbor offers gambling, not sure what kind, once they are in international waters
7) not that I'm aware of at all....I looked about 6 years ago because I knew someone from Flower Mound, and now my friend Juli lives in Tyler
8) YES!! honest....the Bay of Fundy has the greatest tide differences in the world....at Hopewell Rocks in New Brunswick Canada it is estimated that one hundred BILLION tons of water fills and empties TWICE each day--6 to 8 foot change each hour. While Eastport's tide range is not documented quite that well, the conditions are very similar. Also, here's this: Bay of Fundy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I can answer the direct flight question, and the answer is NO. My MIL is bitching and moaning about the fact that even as a free flier working for Continental, she can't get a direct flight without at least one change-over. She adds that to her list of many reasons we're stupid for moving to Maine!

Foxwood casino and Mohegan Sun casino in CT. Exit 79A on I395. We lived near them for years. They are about 6 hours from Mid Coast Maine. And 3 hours (roughly) from Portland.
