8) YES!! honest....the Bay of Fundy has the greatest tide differences in the world....at Hopewell Rocks in New Brunswick Canada it is estimated that one hundred BILLION tons of water fills and empties TWICE each day--6 to 8 foot change each hour. While Eastport's tide range is not documented quite that well, the conditions are very similar. Also, here's this:

I can answer the direct flight question, and the answer is NO. My MIL is bitching and moaning about the fact that even as a free flier working for Continental, she can't get a direct flight without at least one change-over. She adds that to her list of many reasons we're stupid for moving to Maine!

She loves it there! She moved a couple of years ago. I miss her terribly though

Foxwood casino and Mohegan Sun casino in CT. Exit 79A on I395. We lived near them for years. They are about 6 hours from Mid Coast Maine. And 3 hours (roughly) from Portland.
