Live in Hampden and work in Bar Harbor? Seriously, the commute is lengthy, tedious, soul sucking, and often dangerous in the winter. If you had kids, your husband would never see them.

I support the advice to look in Bar Harbor or one of the other MDI towns. MDI in the winter is quite lovely and not at all the isolated, abandoned frontier outpost that some people have apparently painted for you.

What do you care where we live anyway? That is our choice. Here are the details again: My husband can work from home 3 days a week like I had stated in another post. Also, he only needs to commute to Ellsworth to be picked up by co-workers in a car pool AND there's a Jax Labs employee commuter bus he can pick up in Bangor if needed. We also own a plane and he can fly out of Bangor if he chooses. We are not interested in living in Bar Harbor. There are more reasons than the winters. Although I do appreciate your concerns and you may not have meant to offend us, please remember the reason why people post on these forums and put yourself in other's shoes before replying. Thanks so much.

That all being said, it's a great place to live with above average schools and some really nice neighborhoods.

As far as drugs, the poorer areas of Maine have much worse drug problems than Hampden.
Thanks for the info bangorme.

Hey, you asked for our advice. If you don't like it, don't take it. Excuse me for trying.

ETA: For the record, it's more than 50 miles between Hampden and Bar Harbor, but since your husband has his own plane, as you keep reminding us, why bother living in Maine at all? You can find a really nice place in Massachusetts that has all the amenities you apparently require.
