This is one of the craziest things I have ever read. Anyuone heard of this?

The Jumping Frenchmen of Maine is history’s most startling mental disorder

In the 1870s, something very strange happened to the French-Canadians working as lumberjacks in Northern Maine. When startled, they would jump in the air, imitate those around them, and even obey random commands. This was the Jumping Frenchmen of Maine disorder.

This trait has been passed down through the years. In Maine there are people described as "jumpy". It can be a hazard in a manufacturing environment.

Could be early cases of lyme disease from tick bites.

Lyme disease is only recently started occurring in points north of Augusta---thank you , mild winters.

Perhaps you refer to a type of "startle syndrome, used to be associated with lumberjacks.
