US Cellular deleted all of my saved voicemail messages even though I resaved them all last week. I want a new company in Maine. Any recommendations of who would be best for Maine?

Our local cellphone company was bought by Verizon. Their repeater tower is the only repeater in our township.

Our son returned home from school with a T-mobile phone; no reception.

i use at&t. less expensive and service sucks in downeast maine. i realize, that isnt a good thing for most people, but i personally love it. i hated being tied to that stupid phone all the time. i can hook it to the power booster in the car if i really need it in an emergency, but i have a great excuse for leaving it in the car or turned off or otherwise just not bringing it with me.

I too have US Cellular. Two months ago I started receiving notifications from them saying that voicemails older than 30 days would be deleted after a certain date. We have 5 lines with them, and each number received the same notifications. It was also in the paper bills from the last two months, as well as on their website. I'm sorry this happened to you, but I know I received plenty of notice that this was in the works.

If you do a forum search for Maine cell phones you'll see that this topic has come up quite a bit, and there is some good information all ready provided. Good luck.

The best cell phone company depends on where you live, or where you use the phone the most.

Coverage depends on location! It depends on the antennas!

Ask people around your town, how do you like your cell company? Which company is it?

As for voicemail, if you want to keep a voicemail over 30 days, use google voice. 30 days should be more than enough time for you to listen to the message, write it down and delete. I dont fault them at all for deleting old messages.

I use Boost which I believe uses Sprint but not sure.

Anyway, they have pretty good coverage even in areas that they claim there is no coverage....that is, up to Bangor and over to Bar Harbor and then down south.

Up north from Bangor, their map is completely white..meaning no coverage. Depends where you are.

Where I live I supposedly have no coverage. It actually works if I stand near an open window or outside my door and on particular days, sometimes anywhere in the house.

Anyway, I'm pretty pleased with them, may be look them up. (You can look online and buy online.)

US Cellular and Verizon are the 2 main players here in Maine I do believe.
