Right now, we're all fenced in the back with cyclone, so she has her run of things. So far, I'm having no luck finding fenced yards in Belfast. Any suggestions or inside info? We're going to be heart-broken if we have to leave her. Thanks!
That was somewhat my dilemma in getting a new place in southern Maine. At least 90% of the places simply dont take dogs...and frequently cats. I know that renting a place to people can be a hassle but simply saying you dont allow pets is such a cop-out by landlords. If you simply create rules and charge the renter a pet fee, that should cover it. If they break the rules you establish you have grounds to evict them. I couldnt imagine not taking my dog with me wherever I go...I simply couldnt do it. Good luck in your search.

Elcarim, what kind of dog is it? Does she/he like other dogs?

Default `

She's a 2 y.o. Great Pyranese. We've had her since she was 4 months old. We obviously can't base our move on whether or not we can take our dog, but it sure will be hard on the girls if we have to leave her with family. She's the best pet we've ever had. I know, realistically, it would be very hard to relocate long distance with her. We may have to get set up and bring her up later, when we know we have a place that will allow her and that will be safe for her. I just know she'd love the cold weather. We do have family that will be more than happy to adopt her if need be, but we'll do what we can to avoid it.

The Volvo line is kind of a inside joke. Mainers have always referred to the area from Portland south as "Northern Massachusetts". Seems now that some are saying its the Volvo Line, only it starts south of Waterville. Or maybe its Bangor, I forget which.

BELOW THE VOLVO LINE: Yuppies load their dogs into the volvo and bring them to the dog groomer. Fluffy comes back with a bow in her ear.

ABOVE THE VOLVO LINE: Mainers turn on the hose, grab a bar of soap and wash the dog. Dog dries off by use of the sun.
