Granted Maine is Vacationland but do you live in a town with a large amount of tourism? I do and it is so nice to go somewhere in the summer that does not. Just wondering about the mix of this board.

We get some tourists but mostly rusticators here, too. Quite a few loons too. Winter usually drives some of them both off though. I say do away with the bag limit on 'em.

I'd have to say, you do have the loons.

No, we do not get many tourists here.

In this township, about half of the properties are owned by folks who do not live here. Just camps or empty. Of those only two actually make the trip up here each summer [and those families both live in Portland].

Thanks to this thread and Google, I now know what a "rusticator" is...

"They [wealthy visitors] were humorously called "Rusticators" because they wanted to live a rustic life, but on their own terms of comfort and convenience. This they did, bringing their own cooks, butlers, maids, and nannies from Boston, New York, and elsewhere."

Learning something new every day here in this state.

Let's shoot for the moon...both. They call it "tourist season" for a reason, right?
