I guess not or they ain't talkin'. I can tell you that it's the state capital, but you probably already knew that. It's not a place where I would like to live, but some of the surrounding towns might be Ok.

Smile hi

I lived in Augusta for a while and we got out, people weren't friendly and everything is closed by 7:00 pm and it was dead and boring, we had land and cabin and sold it and got out of there

Augusta is the capital city and it has become quite the place to go shopping if you live in central Maine. That being said, it's nickname is "disgusta" and it's well earned. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone as there are plenty of small towns just outside that are much nicer and an easy drive if you work in Augusta.

ive lived in augusta and my son is in the public school system, the school system has been great i like many of his teachers.
the "city of augusta" offers ,,more and more restaurants and retail stores all the time,,,and plenty of nice neighborhoods,,,,i now live in a town just outside augusta, and like most places, its what you make of it,,despite the naysayers above, augusta is no different than most places in maine,,,except for the fact its the state capital,,and when 4 pm rolls around,,,,there's plenty of traffic from state office buildings,
i love maine,,wouldnt live anywheres' else,,the people are great, and i love the four seasons,,,the town ive lived in,,,(15 yrs) i dont lock my front door, and still leave the keys in my car,,without fear someone will drive it away,,
no matter what town, or city you choose in maine,,its what you make of it, i tend to see the positive side of things,,than throw cold water on everything,
