Hello all,

I'm going to be making a huge move from NM to FL, and will be going through the northern portion of your state. Is this area more like your typical southern food--bbq, country fried steak, etc--or is there a mix of Cajun cuisine as well? Just curious. Always thought the Cajun influence was more indigenous to the coast. Just wanted to try some authentic food.."Cajun" in a few places in FL is nothing more than Chinese food with bourbon sauce! Thanks.

Yeah, you will find more BBQ type food in the northern sections. Until you get down here, especially around Lafayette, you will find the more "authentic" cajun food and taste.

The best place to try authentic Cajun food is in someone's kitchen. If you can't do that. Your best bet is anywhere on I-10 between Lake Charles and Baton Rouge.

Try Blind Tiger in downtown Shreveport. Despite the common misconception that there isn't any authentic Cajun food to be found in northern Louisiana, there is plenty to be found. Blind Tiger is a good, easy-to-locate example of this.

Enjoy.
