Australia's doing pretty well (and completely avoided the recession), so is Canada. And not all of South America is doing that badly.

The number of Americans leaving the US has increased rapidly in the last few years and is another one of the "worst kept secrets" in America. The number of US citizens giving up their citizenship is at an all time high.

Yup I hear Iceland's a great place to go right now. Or Greece. And Mexico has lots of openings in the "pharmaceuticals" biz.

If it was possible for me to move to Vancouver, I'd move there in a minute, and a large number of Californians would. West Coast people would experience less culture shock than in Loudon County, VA (which I am familiar with having relatives in DC and Montgomery Co., MD - NoVA isn't "southern" at all anymore but it's still quite different from California.) After all, many movies set in California are actually filmed in Vancouver...

I wouldn't. Been there, done that -- Correctional Officer, Sergeant, Correctional Counselor and Parole Agent in California. It's not a nice business!

Canada? They aren't doing better than us, be my guest if you want to give away all of your money to the government and wait in line 3 week to see a doctor.

Can't speak for Australia, I don't know anybody from there.

South America?? Woah woah, while they might be better than what they were 20 years ago, there is not one thing about any country down there that could possibly compare to USA.

"The Canadian economy has rebounded from global recession faster than the U.S. economy, owing to its substantial natural-resource reserves, relatively stronger banks and milder and faster-recovering unemployment"

7.3% unemployment rate in British Columbia - what Western US state has that low of an unemployment rate?

A right winger saying that Canada's doing better than the US because Canada's more conservative than America:

Canada drops to 8.1% unemployment « Don Surber (http://blogs.dailymail.com/donsurber/archives/13585 - broken link)

And note that many of the businesses which have left California due to tax and regulatory issues have moved to Canada (there's another thread on this board about that)

Even Chile and Uruguay?

But this thread is getting very off topic for the L.A. forum.

Nonsense. Canada recovered from the recsssion faster and it was never as deep here. And where did you hear that Canadians wait 3 weeks to go to the doctor? What crap. Sounds like you know nothing about Canada...nothing but right wing propaganda.
