I will be in LA next week after a long drive down from NoCal. I will only be in LA one night beofre flying back to Raleigh, NC. Can anybody recommend a nice hotel to stay at that is conveinent to LAX? I am looking for something less than $200 and preferrably with a bar / lounge / restaurant in the lobby area since we want to meet with family the evening we arrive to LA but will most likely be too tired from the looong drive to go out.

By the way, I know it isn't close to the airport, but does anybody have any thoughts on the Crowne Plaza Los Angeles - Commerce Casino? Is it a fun place to stay?

Thanks for any input!

i'd shoot for something in manhattan beach. it's only a $10-$15 cab ride to LAX from there. check out the Shade Hotel in manhattan beach or the Beach House Hotel in hermosa beach ($20-$25 cab ride to LAX)

I'm not sure if this would appeal to you, but there is a Courtyard Marriott in Marina Del Rey, about 10-15 mins from the airport (I think about 4-5 miles). I've stayed there twice and I think it was around or less than $150 a night. As far as I remember, they had a bar and restaurant at the hotel, but not sure. If not, there are nice food places across the street.

Hope this helps.

The Hacienda Hotel is in El Segundo - I never stayed there myself, but I have sat at the charming little patio of Starbucks across the street from it.

I believe their rates are around $100/night, and they have a shuttle to and from the airport as well. Here's their website in case you want more info:

LAX Hotel with great rates and clean rooms. The Hacienda Hotel & Conference Center at LAX is the Best Value in the Los Angeles Airport Area

I've been to that Marriott in Marina Del Ray. Very nice.

There is a Hilton hotel right acoss the street from the airport. I think there's a Holiday Inn as well if the Hilton is too pricey for you.
