O.K.

I don't know how many of you are registered to vote but I endured a 25 minute phone poll last night about Eric Garcetti and the condition of the city.

Apparently the man wants to run for mayor and is testing the waters to see what the citizens think.

In my opinion if this man runs for mayor and wins - this city will go further down in flames and will deserve to hit every branch on the tree as it falls back to earth. THIS CITY IS GOING SUBTERRANEAN!

Why would you say that? I only know that he is a council member of the Hollywood area, what's his deal? How could he make things worse?

Eric Garcetti is the City Council President aside from having a district!

1. In the pockets of special interests i.e. big development (do you like traffic? I love out of control traffic! Let's have more!).

2. Illegal alien panderer.

3. Over development of the city.

4. Taxes Taxes Taxes.

What more do you need to know?

is that really any different than any other LA politician? I guess the real dirt would come out in the campaign, if there is any. Maybe Walter Moore will run again and you can vote for that guy. Actually, you wouldn't be able to since you live in MDR, which is not technically in LA city.

Seems like those who are harshest on Eric Garcetti (Gil's son, btw) not only don't live in his district but don't live in L.A. at all.

From what my Silver Lake friends tell me: he's at least somewhat attentive albeit insufficiently so to the needs of small business and residents in his district unlike Tom LaBonge, who represents other parts of Silver Lake and who is extremely clueless, out of touch and divorced from reality. Since LaBonge is gentile with no Latino roots (as opposed to Eric Garcetti who is both Latino and Jewish, a great combination for L.A. politics) he's not going to get as much crap. Garcetti is compromised by ties to developers but most L.A. politicians are (and were in the past as well).

As for representing L.A. in a time of crisis like the present, he probably doesn't have what it takes, but whoever would assuredly wouldn't want the job in the first place.

We can stamp out political royalism in our lifetimes. No on Garcetti.

Wonder why he's starting to campaign already? Does he think Villaraigosa won't finish out his term (in which case Garcetti would become mayor until elections were held)? Tony's relations with Obama are rather chilly due to the President not approving of Tony's role in the Vignali pardon so he doesn't seem like he'd get a federal post. Tony's not running for governor but perhaps he has plans to run for another statewide office? Or perhaps he thinks that Feinstein's going to retire in 2012 and is positioning himself for a Senate run? Or even Tony's close relations with big developers crossing the line into some sort of illegal activity? Who knows?

Seems like Garcetti may know something about Tony that the general public doesn't know if he's already setting up a run for mayor, but I could be wrong about this.

I feel Eric Garcetti is a man who be in control of a situation-would Jan Perry,Dennis Zine,Wendy Gruel
do as well.I think not.He is the councilman who actually has time set in his office to see constiguents.
No other council member does.He seems the nicest-never loses is temper-willing to listen-not Dennis Zine-I think he should be mayor-can we afford to lose him-(donna lou from Van Nuys)
