My lease is over in my current place and I need to relocate because my manager is jacking up my rent in a horrible economy

I live in Pasadena now in a decent area. Even though I live close to South Pasadena I really haven't gone there but a few times and just drove around, passed through. Are there any bad areas of South Pasadena that I should look out for? I found some really reasonably prices 1br apartments and I just want to make sure I don't end up in a bad part of town.

hm...not that I know of. I know a decent part is around that ... downtown center of South Pasadena? It's where the metro stops.

That really adds insult to injury, ZenMaster! You wanted to move to Albuquerque, now would be a perfect opportunity since your lease ends anyway, and now you have to be stuck in LA at least a whole extra year now.

I've been exploring South Pasadena a lot lately. I think I've seen most of the city, which is pretty small, and I like everything I've seen. I could be wrong, but I don't think there are any bad parts of South Pasadena. I've seen some apartments along Monterey Rd that range from mediocre to decent. In fact if I absolutely had to stay in LA and had to work downtown, living in S. Pas. in walking distance to a gold line station (even if it's a mile walk-- beats driving) would be one of my top options.

No. There are no bad parts in South Pasadena. I've probably walked every single street in South Pasadena, even the dead ends, and while some apartments are less attractive than others (and there may be a bad landlord out there or something) there are no areas to avoid due to crime concerns. Some parts are more interesting or pretty or convenient than others, but it's all safe and fairly compact.

It's not quite that bad. I have actually found a few places that will do month-to-month or 6 month leases. I'm still trying to move to abq I just may get stuck paying out a 6 month lease if I get a call soon. But I can't stay here and pay $300 extra per month rent. It's highway robbery!

Was just researching places to live in LA area and ran across this post. Ironic that I'm in ABQ, NM now. Feel free to PM me if you need any personal advice about the area here.
