Do you grow Kentucky Bluegrass in Los Angeles? What's your opinion of it?

Actually, I guess more people plant Marathon II because it's better suited to Southern CA climate.

I threw down some Scotts "Reseed Supreme" (Kentucky Bluegrass) in a few bare spots in an existing lawn and has taken quite nicely growing 2 1/2 - 3". I did the same in the back yard that I tore out the dead grass down to the bare soil. It's only grown about an inch in the same amount of time, and seems as though it has stopped growing altogether. It's really green, but really short.
Any ideas?

The climate isn't right here in Los Angeles.

Default Kentucky Blue Grass

I just find it weird that it would grow tall in one place in my yard and not the other. So, if not Kentucky Bluegrass, do you have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

I grew up in the South, so I just have some first-hand experience with Kentucky Bluegrass. Under ideal conditions, it should grow quickly and very thick. Since you have spotty growth, I'm guessing that might have to do with your soil (the breed of grass is very "picky")

Maybe some of the other guys on here can point you in a better direction. Good luck.

I guess 2 1/2" - 3" would be good. That seems to be what the neighbors have. And, of course, they don't remember (or don't want to say) what their grass is. I don't know...I guess I'm just looking for something decent. The backyard is totally bare and I'd like to get started before too long. Is it too early to seed here in SoCal (Anaheim Hills)? Should I go with a tall fescue? How about Buffalo Grass?
Help!!
