Hello,

Wondering if anyone knows more about Belmont Shores and the elementary schools there. I am moving from Orange Cty to Long Beach and checked out this area. It seems very nice certain areas of it. Up until you get to downtown Long Beach.

I am concerned on sending my child to the elementary schools and wondered if anyone can recommend a certain area in Belmont Shores that may have a good elementary school.

Thanks so much.
And if you have any info on the area that might be helpful.

Thanks so much!

JT

Google California school performance maps. Gives standardized test score data on schools in a google maps interface.

Belmont Shore kids typically go to Lowell Elementary, which ranks 10 out of 10 in the great schools rankings. API scores are about 900. It's an excellent school with very strong parent involvement. Other schools are Naples Elementary, Fremont and Kettering which are equally strong.

Also, coastal downtown Long Beach is actually pretty nice. Although probably more appropriate for folks without kids.

Elementary schools include Lowell, which would be closest, as well as Naples Elementary. In addition, some families seem well pleased with Fremont, which is at 4th and Termino. Belmont Shore is such a small place that really there are not a lot of options, but the ones that are available to you are good. Certainly do some research as far as test scores go, but as the above poster mentioned, the area is fairly upper middle class, and the test scores reflect that.
