I also hate it when they are standing shoulder to shoulder with me when I'm trying to pay. Luckily I don't have to type in my pin number or anything because they sure would know it!
I think the next time this happens I'm going to get even closer to the person just to see their reaction. And, when someone stands shoulder to shoulder, I will advise the cashier that I think my "new pal here" is offering to pay my bill. All with a smile of course. We don't want anyone to get hurt.

Actually, it is interesting that you mention that as I've been contemplating this myself.

I've never had any issues at say Target for example, so I do agree, it may be worth it to my sanity to take my business elsewhere.

Yeah Walmart definitely draws a different demographic than Target. I'm not sure how Costco got lumped in with Walmart though. I'd put Target and Costco a level or two above Walmart with respect to the crowd they attract.

Target is like the beverly hills of Walmart.

I totally agree. I have to admit, the Target crowd is much more calm and relaxing, compared to the mad rush around the aisles and to the register at walmart.

I've actually done that to one of them before. It wasn't intentional, but for some reason I got closer to them, and they looked at me as if I was the freak.

I also get that same look when someone is loudly talking on their cell phone and blocking a group of items I'm trying to get too. When I reach by them to get the item that they are blocking, they look at me as if I committed the ultimate felony, like how dare I reach by them.

What's quite odd about Walmart is that, where they sell knives, they have pictures of the knives under the glass rather than samples of the knives themselves. I never understood that.

Hey, what I like to do when I'm in the supermarket and some annoying person is talking really loud on their cellphone, I start talking to them, break into their conversation, start asking questions. It really messes them up.

I don't mind quiet talkers on cellphones, just the loud talkers. (Why does this subject remind me of Jerry Seinfeld? )

I just give them a cold stare and if needed a "opps" nudge with my cart, and they get the hint. Also it helps to be a strapping 6'2" man. You don't have to say something all the time for people not to miss with you.
