It’s almost entirely Latino dominant poor and blue collar areas. This makes total sense as many households in those areas hold multiple generations, and the younger adults in those households are much more likely than average to be working in low wage public contact jobs like fast food, restaurants, and lower end health care.

But because of the terminally dumb doublespeak of the LA City and County political establishment, this issue can’t really be addressed head on because it must be an “equity” problem. So instead you have vaccines mandated on small populations of government workers, who outside LE and Fire, have vaccination rates greater than the general population. The vaccinate message should be strongly geared towards multi generational homes, and low wage workers who work in close proximity to others, but instead the focus is on a few thousand cops and firemen, nearly none of whom live in Los Angeles City, and most not even residing in LA County.
You are right about what the problem group is, but dealing with it is not as simple. Many in that population won't get vaccinated no matter what - young enough to feel bulletproof, for example, and often with no real employer - and the government can't mandate anything like that outside workplaces (let's call schools workplaces). Actually the police rate went up recently and the general city employee vaccination rate wasn't or isn't good, maybe due to overlap with said Latino population, so that offers a little hope.

What Los Angeles could do, after coercing enough police into being vaccinated, is to quietly increase the police presence in the low-income areas and arrest people for minor violations. Then vaccinate them in jail and, if appropriate, let them out. That could snag another 10 or 20 percent of that population. A problem with that is the police forces in LA have such attitudes that they wouldn't want to do the risk-taking and extra work involved. Also, that presupposes that Los Angeles jail employees have to be vaccinated, which I found is not true of California state prison employees.

Just asking whether hotels are still used as quarantine centers or project room key alternative homeless shelters? I asked online about the Best western surestay Lincoln Plaza in Monterey Park they stated they are back to original operations after a renovation post ending the project room key last June. I be curious whether anyone can confirm this is accurate info?
It appears Monterey Park residents do not like them there. I am assuming they were chosen because this particular hotel was very deserted even compared to hotels in LA proper since the US closed travels from China which many of them stay in this hotel.

“The highest coronavirus case rates have been among unvaccinated teens, who were eight times more likely than vaccinated teens to test positive for COVID and are important drivers of transmission across our communities,” L.A. County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said in a recent briefing.

Previously, health officials had noted that it was younger adults who were most likely to contract the coronavirus.

But the possibilities for contracting the coronavirus have climbed as social gatherings and extracurricular activities for teenagers have resumed. L.A. County’s unvaccinated youths ages 12 to 17 have a monthly coronavirus case rate 32% worse than that of unvaccinated residents younger than 50, according to data collected between Sept. 16 and Oct. 15.

Thanks for that article. It just backs up what I’ve thought all along and have witnessed myself. Generally, young folks just don’t give a damn. Fact. I know two different people in the hospital trying to stay alive after their grand kids gave them the virus. Both grand kids knew they were sick but didn’t tell anyone.

Default Garcetti has COVID

If this thread is merged soon into not sure what, okay. I just want people to know that. The mayor who did little to discourage travel (e.g., virus spread) during the worst of the pandemic went traveling and mingling unnecessarily (albeit for a nice cause) and that's very likely how he got the virus.
