Hi, I just got a job in LA, and I am trying to find a place to live. I found a place at W 68th and S St Andrews. As a person who grew up in a fairly low crime rate area, I am a little worry because of the repuration of South LA. Can someone help me out, and give me an overview of the area?

I don't understand. Why is this considered a troll thread?

I'm not familiar with the area, but I'm guessing it's notoriously bad which is why you're being accused of trolling.

The neighborhood is convenient to other parts of LA, especially LAX. People are friendly and it is quiet.

Troll post in response to a troll thread. Possibly a troll account created by the original troll who created this troll thread just to keep trolling.

It is near Horace Mann Middle School which is roughly half black and half Latino. So not counting multi generational households figure the senior citizens to be more black and the younger adults becoming increasingly Latino.

I wouldn't be walking around late at night that's for sure.

You didn't look into housing in L.A before applying for the job?

L.A is notorious as an expensive place to live especially these days. I wouldn't move to a city if I could only live in a high crime area especially renting.

At least if you buy in a high crime area you have the chance of making some money on appreciation.

You didn't specify if you are looking to rent or buy but it sounds more like renting.

I live about a mile or so west of that area. We bought a house over here about a year ago. Anything west of Crenshaw is perfectly safe and you'll be fine. We are fairly high income earners in our mid 30s, white, etc.. no problems what so ever.

East of Crenshaw, which is where you are looking gets a bit more sketch. I would understand if you are buying, as there are still some good deals over there and South LA is improving significantly with each month that goes by.
