Well, I guess it wasn't legal two weeks ago, when students at UCLA were quarantined in their dorms because of the measles outbreak.
They were told to stay put, and not venture out.

Was that illegal?

Same applies to diseased homeless people, confine them away from the public before a pandemic is upon us.

What “diseased homeless people”, Bob? There were last year something like 7 with typhus? While there were over 150 non-homeless victims ... 20 in Pasadena alone.

But more importantly, murine typhus isn’t communicable from humans to other humans. It is only transmitted by contact with the feces of fleas infected with the bacteria Rickettsia typhi. So, isolating the homeless, or any infected victims, does nothing to stop the spread of the disease. Zip.

There is also quite a difference between public health quarantine and rounding up people to send to internment camps.

That's what people who work with these groups have said. Only a small fraction want to get off the streets. Those who are motivated to clean up actually do it. They are usually on the streets for less than two years.

Enabling the bums only makes the problem worse which is exactly what has happened.

NEVER GIVE THEM MONEY!

There are specific rules involving quarantines... individuals have to have been potentially exposed to a dangerous disease, and once they are established to not have the disease the quarantine has to end. So even if you ended out somehow quarantining a homeless person, he'd have to be released by law once it's clear he doesn't have any dangerous disease, like typhus or something. Indefinite incarceration is an entirely different matter and is illegal.

The only thing I've denied in this thread is false information, e.g. L.A.'s homeless are just like the homeless in Morrow Bay, or that L.A.'s Typhus outbreak has nothing to do with the homeless.

Um these?

Typhus, tuberculosis, and other illnesses are spreading quickly through camps and shelters.

Police, firefighters face health risks when dealing with homeless populations

Do you really think the liberals on this forum are going to take the time to click on those links, and actually read, and believe what is printed?
They collectively have this brain dead position of not excepting the truth, even when it is steering them right in the face.

Well let's see , rats, fleas, human feces, wasted needles, just to name a few problems in homeless camps.

Now is any one here going to tell me these things can't spread disease?
It's obvious city officials don't know what to do about the problem of homelessness, and that is why it is getting worse, and it is a country wide problem.

Bob.

I more think of it as a bleeding heart liberal mentality vs. a liberal mentality that dismisses facts and only runs off of emotions vs. evidence, facts and logic.

Heard on the news tonight six cops have typhoid fever. I wonder how contagious it is. If they go home will their kids get it and spread it at school? Then those kids take it home. On and on and on...
