From my research I've been thinking, Playa Del Rey, Mar Vista, Palms, Culver City, etc.

Also what's the best place to find a place? Mainly been using Craigslist. Is westside rentals worth the $55?

Westside Rentals is definitely worth it. Lots of good listings. Apartments.com is also pretty good. Others to try are PadMapper, Hotpads, and Zillow.

As far location, my top picks would be, Santa Monica, Marina Del Rey, or Culver City. If you want to be next to a lot of nightlife and restaurants, Santa Monica would be my top choice.

Playa Del Rey is right on the ocean as well but it's also right next to LAX runway.

I looked at padmapper and it only had 3 listing between playa vista and culver city.

I don't necessarily care for the beach. Plus I heard on the weekends everyone flocks there and traffic is bad as is parking.

Santa Monica is nice but I hate commuting so I'm trying to find a 15min or less commute.

That's a LOW budget for that area. Yikes.

Agreed, but you need to widen your search for an apartment considerably, or look for single rooms. Or both.

Oh I'm open to single rooms too. Studios seem to go from $1100 and up..

I just signed up on westside rentals so I"ll start messaging people. I went through pretty much all of craigslist.

Westside Rentals is definitely NOT worth it. You can get the same info elsewhere, free. Padmapper is your best bet.
