I have two ~50ft jacaranda trees in front of my house.

My front yard and street would turn purple when all those thousands of flowers start falling. Very pretty, and thankfully the flowers are not sticky and are very easy sweep up.

I use some of the flowers as compost.

My trees are pretty old, and they don't seem to bloom as early as the younger ones... still waiting.

Hmm, interesting. I'm a rookie at this gardening stuff. Just recently started my own. Do those flowers make good compost?

Dunno... I just don't like to see all that organic plant matter go to waste. They do decompose very quickly.

I just got back from the Bay Area and noticed that there are dozens of Jacardas in-bloom around my neighborhood. This is my first spring in my new neighborhood, and I didn't even know these trees were Jacardas until this weekend.

I'll take some pictures this week and post them when I get a chance.

Yep I live off of that street.

There were quite a few in my neighborhood in Hollywood. My apartment building had a rear surface lot, and one of the spots just got rained on by purple petals in the spring. Sucked for them.

Took these last week. Just now got them up on the web - these are all taken on a cell phone and I am far from a photographer so bear with me:
