I'm not sure if it's worth creating a separate thread for this but I don't know where else can I ask.

I've heard a lot about In n Out Burger, as well as Pink's. But it appears that many Angelenos say Pink's is overrated now and is not as good as it used to be decades ago. What about In n Out Burger? As good as they say? Pics look amazing.

As I land in LAX, my first stop is going to be there and I'm very curious about those secret menus. Do I just look it up online and then order at the checkout? Or is there also a secret way of doing it, maybe some special sign or a handshake to make them understand what I'm there for?

Thanks!

There's not that much to the secret menu. Animal Style Fries, Animal Style Burger, Quad Burger (4 patties or more, as many as you want), Protein Burger (lettuce wrap). I think that is it. Maybe I am wrong?

There are tons of In and Outs in Southern California, so it is sort of different than Pinks, which just has one location. You don't have to wait in line for an hour for an average-at-best hot dog. Personally I love In and Out but don't think it's the best burger in the world or anything. Worth the visit though.

In N Out is definitely amazing. Definitely right up there with Fatburger as my favorite fast food type of burger.

I have eaten In N Out in a few locations. Do you remember long ago when McDonalds had the McFresh Burger on their menu? They taste pretty much the same. Thin patty with lettuce, tomatoe and pickle. Nothing special really. Just better than the crap at most other fast food burger shacks where you dont even get the lettuce and tomatoe anymore.

In-N-Out is the best fast food burger around. I'm glad they expanded from SoCal, as there are locations all over the Bay Area.

If you search online, you can find the "secret menu" people talk about.

I add: grilled onions, chopped chilies and pickles to my burgers (chilies and pickles are non-standard items at In-N-Out).

Both In and Out's fries and burgers are excellent for a "fast food" place.

They use fresh ingredients and I've never, had a bad experience/messed up order. And I've been eating there for over 20 years.

If there was anything that signified "home" for me, In and Out would be one of those things.

Also the price is lower than most other fast food places as well.

---

Have I had better burgers? Yes, of course, but as far as consistency, quality and the "type" of burger that it is, not many places come close.

I agree that the IN N OUT fries aren't too great "as is".

Next time ask for the fries "well done" they still aren't the best, but they are much better.

I understand then they're better than McDs and BK?

Burger is my favorite food; what's the best burger in LA in your opinion?
