so im gonna be in LA mid may and i found a great apt by hollywood blvd and gower st.

the reason why im looking at hollywood is because housing there is rather cheap and at this location im 2 miles from my work.

i know the hollywood area isnt that great but considering i have a car, driving for 10 mins to get to west hollywood isnt so bad.

i just wanted to see what u guys think.

its 1350 bucks for a 1 bed. fairly new, views, 1 car garage / gated.

should i go for it!?

also, is 1350 bucks / month too much on rent? ill be making 70k gross.

thx!

Gower pretty much marks the end of central Hollywood. A few blocks east and you're in "seedy" East Hollywood. However, the northern part of Gower is the nicest. By Hollywood Blvd and Franklin is a great area. If you said Santa Monica Blvd and Gower I'd say think twice.

So yes, go ahead and do it. Just be a little careful at night.

Also, you're near Al Wazir Chicken, Burger Factory, and Roscoe's Chicken and waffles, 3 of Hollywood's most beloved eateries

Seconded. Stay away from SMB and Gower!

Al Wazir has the best hummus of ever. Worth it just for that.

My sister used to live at Fountain and Gower. She had frequent break-ins to her car, so don't leave crap visible in your car. They actually stole a painting our grandmother painted. How lame is that.

The reason she moved is she had a bum at the corner liquor store follow her home and try to break into her apartment, while she was in it. Fortunately, she had a back door to escape through and ran to a neighbor's apartment to call the cops. Cops came really fast, helicopters and all and caught the bastard. Traumatic to say the least.

^I think Fountain is where Gower starts to get shady...I know pretty well since I used to work by Lexington and Gower, which is still a safe area during the day but angry transexual prostitute land at night. If you stay at the northern part of Gower (Hollywood and Franklin) it's much better. Interesting how Gower changes so much in just a couple blocks.
