Los Angeles tells USOC it wants to bid on 2024 Games - ESPN Los Angeles

Thoughts? LA is certainly a great location especially in the summer. Mostly everything needed is in place but a better olympic stadium is needed. Either the Coliseum gets renovated, Farmers Field gets built or both. Public transit will be much better by then.

Of course, we have hosted it twice already so who knows what our real chances are, but it's still interesting.

is it me or does LA bid to host every summer olympics? after Beijing and London went "all-in" on their olympics, I highly doubt an LA bid will ever win again. The ISOC wants brand new venues and infrastructure while LA's bids always leverage existing facilities (all of which will be dated by 2024 with the exception of a new football stadium if it's ever built).

So we can afford to host the Olympics...but we can't provide basic services anymore?

This is exactly the problem with this mayor ..he's all about the glamor of things while most of the city is in shambles with potholes , trash on the streets, etc.

The average tax paying citizen isn't getting a great return on the "investments" this Mayor has made.

Nobody views this as being a little irresponsible?...

I really have nothing more to add as the above really says all that need be said about this city's ludicrous nature.

For some reason I don't think LA could pull something like this off (Rio 2016):

Olympic Tower: Rio 2016

It could work considering we have much of what i needed ready for the Olympics. Some things may have to be updated though. It's unlikely to happen anyway, but I would love to see the olympics held here.
