Cerritos is like the town of Stepford. The whole town is possessed by the HOA fever.
If you like being controlled, then this is the town is for you. No working on your automobile in your driveway. All lawns to be mowed on the same day.
Anywhere you move in Cerritos will be like the rest of the city.

Cerritos is a relatively safe area, with violent crime ranking very low. The areas around Heretige Park and Cerritos Regional Park are pretty nice, and good for families.

Considering it has some of the best schools in LA County(and one of the best in the state), there are some things worth sacrificing.

Plus, you misjudge it slightly. There aren't HOAs, but instead city ordinances. And different parts of the city are different. The far northwest borders the one ways in Norwalk.. not a desirable area. The southwest has some undesirable areas that border Artesia and east Lakewood. Much of the western part of the city resembles Lakewood, while the eastern side resembles more of Cypress.

I live in Cerritos and I LOVE it! I live near Cerritos Regional Park and it's good for families.
No HOA in my area. The Cerritos Library is fabulous!

The whole town IS NOT possessed by HOA. It depends what part of the city you are in. I live by Artesia/Rose and we do not have HOA's
